AGway - IoT Gateway
It is very much important to connect existing and new devices to IoT network. In order to handle the diversity of participating devices, volume/type of data generated etc. it is important to have a Secure, Intelligent Gateway as a broker between the Middleware and the devices. Having an intelligent gateway in a way will help minimize the need to reach out to the middleware for decision making. This in a way can cut back on the traffic density and the number of intermediate hops.
Majority of IoT devices are left in the open and physical threat to such devices always persist. It is easy for a attacker to clone one such device and use the same to send malicious packets to create havoc. AGway have inbuilt security that will prevent an attacker from cloning the gateway. Version 2.0 of AGway which is due to be released in September 2014 will incorporate a new lean layer called "PChartz Layer" that uses protocol characterization technique to handle heterogeneous devices. This generalized way of handling protocols will make addition of new protocols as easy as filling up few protocol specific characteristics and then regenerating the AGway executable.
